MINI MAGAZINE & STICKER POP-UP
Magazine TM — 2027 Release
Magazine TM is an independent, biennial art and poetry magazine founded in 2021. The publication brings together visual artists and writers through original collaborations, interviews, featured artwork, poetry, and curatorial writing—presented in carefully designed, handmade editions that experiment with book arts and display.
At its core, Magazine TM is concerned with how artwork is encountered. Intimacy, material choices, and modes of display shape along with image and text. Writing is paired with visual work, offering proximity and reflection. Print provides a tactile experience that operates in contrast to the speed and immediacy of contemporary digital culture.
The 2027 release is organized around themes of desire and joy—understood expansively as queer joy, the joy of making, and joy as a temporary state that often gives way to longing again. This cyclical relationship—desire producing joy, joy fading, and more desires emerging—structures both the curatorial framework and the physical form of the issue.
This edition includes an increased presence of figural and performative work. Artists such as Stephen Clay, Kenya Price, and Amor Kerida engage the body through self-portraiture, staged photography, and drag performance. In Monika Plioplyte’s I For Nested Pattern series, ritualized self-portraits in landscape are partially obscured by paper lattice structures derived from Lithuanian weaving patterns. Her work draws connections between repetition, ancestry, landscape, and the body—echoing the layered, cyclical logic of the issue as a whole.
Formally, the 2027 magazine continues Magazine TM’s ongoing interest in experimental book structures. The full edition will be produced as a pocket-sized book (3.5” × 5.5”) with a vertical accordion binding, allowing artwork and text to unfold across the front faces while a continuous collaborative print spans the reverse—inviting readers to move slowly between sequence, surface, and image, and ultimately back to the beginning.
Prototype Release & Pop-Up
Ahead of the full 2027 launch, Magazine TM presents a small promotion at a coffee shop featuring 25 free mini-magazine prototypes. These objects function as studies—testing scale, binding, pacing, and how the magazine circulates in public space.
Each mini magazine measures 1.5” × 2.5”, is accordion-bound along the top edge, and wrapped in a shimmering red bow that echoes the color of the cover. The prototypes rest on a folded red silk scarf; as one is taken, the storefront replaces exactly one, maintaining the installation as a quiet, ongoing exchange.
The prototypes are accompanied by 6” × 3” red Magazine TM stickers, featuring a bold white wordmark on a red field. Together, these elements operate as portable fragments of the larger project—objects of desire that appear briefly, circulate, and leave traces.
About Magazine TM
Every two years, Magazine TM culminates in a public release event celebrating the curated work through installations, gatherings, and shared time. Limited editions are sold directly through the magazine via pre-sales, with the 2027 edition pre-sale launching mid-2026.
Drawing from the history of printed art, Magazine TM reinterprets graphic display and publishing traditions in conversation with contemporary artistic practice. Through handmade design, binding, and packaging, the magazine creates an immersive experience—one that emphasizes attention to detail and the physical presence of art in print.
Magazine TM was established to create meaningful dialogue with artists and writers and to function as a more supportive, generative, and experimental alternative publishing model. Each release is shaped through collaboration with designers, artists, writers, and arts administrators.
